Types of stairlift

Basically stairlifts can be installed on either straight or curved stairwells. As you can imagine, installing a curved stairlift will be more costly compared to a straight one. The curved ones are more costly to manufacture and so are the installation costs.

You need to make sure that your stairlift has the capacity to handle your size, weight and any disability issues. Most chairs can take up to approximately 300 lbs weight. It's a good idea to try out various seats to find one that feels comfortable.

Safety is something that you should always take into account. Stairlifts come with a lap belt that it is mandatory to wear. You can also get obstacle sensors that will safely stop the chair if an obstacle is found obstructing the chair.

If you have a fear of heights or falling you can have surronding rails on all four sides surrounding your chair to take care of this.

There are a number of accessories available, but a spare battery pack is essential if you want to keep using your stairlift during unexpected power outages.

You can also transport items such as a wheelchair etc in your chairlift. So you can see that they are very versatile devices.
